Volume 8 is a reimagining of the mythic American West—through a multicultural, cinematic, and deeply personal lens. From protest camps at Standing Rock to lowrider queens in California, from rodeo kids in Vermont to surreal fashion scenes set in dream deserts, the issue unpacks nostalgia, fantasy, and resistance.

Larry Towell and Jim Goldberg anchor the volume with powerful documentary archives, while Jack Davison riffs on Red Dead Redemption 2 as a visual text. Rahim Fortune, Thalía Gochez, and Carlos Jaramillo explore identity and land across Texas, L.A., and Mexico. Mark Mahaney captures the quiet rites of youth rodeo, while Arnaud Lajeunie and Mark Luckasavage reinvent Americana through radical fashion stories.
